European Team Challenge 2012 – Part 1

With seven days to go until the European Team Challenge event I have eventually settled on a list. Only the Daughters of the Flame and Nicia Tears of Vengeance need to be painted. Now painting these means that I need to concentrate on painting at least every one of these seven days.

At the moment all are primed and have been given the first base coat of Menoth White and have started on the Menoth White Highlight. If I manage a couple of hours each and every day I should be able to complete this unit and solo. Both play a key role in the list, so really need to get these painted.

On the gaming side I had a practise game on Tuesday against Tyler and his Magnus Tier 4 list, the list which he is taking to the event. We played the “Outflank, Outfight, Outlast” scenario, so that we could finalise the reinforcements which we would be using. This is the first scenario at the event, so we needed to get familiar with it. I did win this game by Caster kill, although I did find that I tend to take a long time on each turn which was eating into my chess clock time of 64 minutes.

The event also includes the “Incursion” and “Close Quarter” scenarios which we have played a lot, so don’t need to practise these. However the scenarios “Demolition”, “Command and Control” and “A Flag too Far” are all scenarios which we are not familiar with, so these are going to need playing at least once before next Friday.

There is an additional “International Hardcore” event being played on the Friday before the event starts in the evening. We are still considering if to play this. It could be a very long and tiring day, if we play 4 or 5 games of Hardcore and then the first round of the ETC in a day, so we will see.
